Fabio Capello: “Roma deserve respect for winning the Conference League.”

Former Roma manager Fabio Capello was recently asked to comment on the enthusiasm surrounding the capital club after Jose Mourinho and his men lifted the Conference League title.

“Roma have won an international, European cup,” he told Radio Radio. “People label it as a third-tier cup, but it’s not: when you win internationally there is great respect and great value for what you have won. This is very important.”

“Sometimes it’s envy that makes people talk because if other teams had won it, maybe they would be celebrating the same way Roma did.”

“Winning results in a physical trophy, meanwhile reaching 4th place is a financial trophy.”

“Lifting a trophy is about joy and celebration. But Champions League is still every footballer’s dream.”
