Fahad Al Baker claims talks with Friedkin for minority stake in Roma

RomaPress – An old flame has returned…perhaps.

The name of Kuwaiti entrepreneur Fahad Al Baker is once again being linked to Roma.

It is true that The Friedkin Group, who acquired Roma last month, are interested in bringing aboard a minority investor to help strengthen the financial position of the club.

Al Baker and his group of investors were in negotiations with James Pallotta for the sale of the club in early August, but the Bostonian ultimately reached an agreement with The Friedkin Group after El Baker was unable to formulate a concrete offer.

Al Baker now claims, however, that his group are in negotiations with Friedkin for a minority stake investment in the club.

“The new owner of Roma, Friedkin, is negotiating with our investment group. We are also in negotiations with another European club outside Italy,” he said to Arabic television show AlDerbyShow.

“What encouraged us to invest in a club like Roma is its popularity and the club’s heritage in addition to the fact that they are close to owning a stadium in the best area in the city”.
