Marcão, the father-agent of former Roma midfielder Gerson, spoke to esportes.yahoo.com today and discussed his son’s exit from the Italian capital last summer.
The Brazilian departed from the Giallorossi for Flamengo for a fee of €11.8 million in July of 2019 after having joined the club in 2016.
“It just didn’t work (at Roma). I remember Gerson scored twice against Fiorentina then never played again. I remember one match he was asked to play on the wing against Juve and to mark Higuain. He never trained in that role before,” he said.
“Anyway, thank God we managed to get out of there”.
“(Before Flamengo) Palmeiras, Corinthians, Grêmio and Atlético-MG made an attempt for him — but they all wanted Gerson on loan while Roma wanted to sell permanently for €15 million”.
“Interest from Dortmund and Tottenham? It’s true but they only made inquiries”.
