Pellegrini, Fazio, Santon test positive for COVID-19

After striker Edin Dzeko tested positive for Coronavirus late last week, three more of Roma’s players have tested positive.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported late this evening that defenders Davide Santon, who was already out due to injury, and Federico Fazio have both tested positive for COVID-19.

Santon, who has been out injured for almost two weeks, has not been training with his teammates — however, the same can’t be said for the Argentine.

Fazio was called-up for yesterday’s win against Genoa and was on the bench for the league fixture in Liguria. The former Sevilla man tested negative for COVID before the start of the match — however, the results that came back within the last few hours from today’s test returned as positive.

Meanwhile, midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, who was sensational during yesterday’s victory, announced on his official Instagram page that he too has tested positive for Coronavirus.

”Hi everyone, the latest swab revealed that I also tested positive for COVID,” he wrote.

”I immediately started to quarantine. I have a few symptoms but I want to assure everyone that I’m fine and I’ve already started counting down when I can get back on the pitch with my teammates!”
