Earlier in the summer, a large part of Tiago Pinto’s work consisted of finding adequate offers for players outside of Roma’s project. The likes of Nzonzi, Pastore and Florenzi were sent on permanent and loan deals.
Two suspects remained at Trigoria: Santon and Federico Fazio.
Both have spent the past few months training individually, away from the first team. Neither one of them has so far made it into Jose Mourinho’s consideration.
According to Il Messaggero, after rejecting several offers in the summer (from Italy and abroad), both players are getting ready to evaluate potential offers in January.
Santon is still drawing interest from Turkey, while Fazio could find a suitable destination in Serie A.
Their departures in January could prove crucial for Roma’s transfer-market, allowing the club to add another defender to Mourinho’s roster.
