Former Roma left back Federico Balzaretti is being eyed by the new ownership group of Sampdoria to potentially join the club’s senior management.
Earlier this month, Balzaretti ended his spell as sporting director of Serie C side Vicenza after nearly two years. The two sides mutually agreed to part ways with the 41 year-old thanking the club for their time together.
“I’m infinitely thankful to the entire family at Vicenza for the opportunity that was given to me,” Balzaretti wrote on social media after his departure.
“It’s been a privilege to share this experience with you. I also want to thank the supporters for their constant encouragement—they always stood by us and never let us feel as if we were alone.”
As for what comes next, Ansa reports he could join the newly revamped Sampdoria following the takeover of Andrea Radrizzani and Matteo Manfredi. The pair are reportedly considering Balzaretti as the club’s sporting director following their recent relegation to Serie B.
