The young Primavera player Felix Afena-Gyan is likely to never forget his debut against Cagliari. Coming on in the ’57 minute, replacing Matías Viña, the 18-year-old played a big part in Roma’s comeback win in Sardinia last night.
The player was interviewed by the club’s official channels after the final whistle:
“First of all, it’s important to say thank to everyone for the opportunity they gave me. The coach believed in me and that’s why he sent me on the pitch.”
“Due to that, I didn’t want to prove him wrong or prove myself wrong, and that’s why I need to work hard, work on my mentality to give my best support to the team.”
“I’m very happy for the team win.”
“When we had the call-up for first team training, I told myself to learn from the first-team players and listen to what the coach says. So I’m focused, and the coach would tell me to improve on something. Every time I would try and improve.”
“The feeling is great. I don’t know how to express it, I’m just very happy to make my debut today. I’m glad. I want to thank everyone for the support, especially the club and coach for the support and the belief they had in me.”
“I thank everyone and dedicate this debut to everyone who supported me. Everyone. The team, the club, the coach and my mum in Ghana. Thank you to everyone.”
