Former Roma attacker Felix Afena-Gyan spoke about his first team debut with Jose Mourinho.

The Ghanaian striker – who is currently at Cremonese- was brought on from the Primavera by the Special One in October 2021 and scored a brace in his first game for the Giallorossi to seal a crucial win over Genoa in Mourinho’s first season at the capital club.

In an interview with Saddick Adams, Felix remarked, “I worked hard with him. One day after one of the first workouts he put his hand on my shoulder and said “Fine, fine. See you tomorrow.” I was very very happy. My friends were incredulous that I had spoken to him.”

“He is a special man, his nickname says it too. He is truly special and is a great teacher. Sometimes we still talk, he asks me how I am.”

“I almost never wear the shoes he gifted me. Only on special occasions. Then I clean them each time and put them away,” he said, referring to a pair of expensive Balenciaga shoes Mourinho gave him as a present after his brace vs Genoa.
