Felix declines Ghana call-up: wants to stay focused on Roma

Andy Mattioli

To everybody’s surprise Felix Afena-Gyan will not be leaving the Italian capital for the international break.

According to Il Tempo, the 18-year-old – whose senior debut against Cagliari impressed a lot of people including Ghana’s federation – has communicated to his national team his willingness to continue working in Rome.

The young attacker has thus declined his first ever national team call-up that would have seen him partake in Ghana’s preparations for the World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Felix has his mind set on working at Roma with Jose Mourinho in order to be ready when the next call-up invitation arrives.

The player’s primary objective is to become a reliable presence off-the-bench for the Giallorossi.

Roma support Felix’s decision and are pleased with the attitude he has displayed over these past two weeks.
