Feyenoord assistant John de Wolf encourages his side versus Roma

Andy Mattioli

Feyenoord assistant to Arne Slot, John de Wolf, encouraged his side ahead of tonight’s Europa League showdown with Roma.

In a video released by the Dutch side earlier today, de Wolf addressed the fans, recalling the painful defeat in the Conference League final from last year.

“Memories. We keep on making them. We can never get enough,” said the retired footballer.

“Memories can be painful too. Right after the draw they came flooding back: AS Roma. The tears in Tirana. It’s a scar on all of our souls.”

“But you know what?” he continued. “We got back up again. The battle made us stronger. Time made us stronger. We healed our wounds with new memories. It was a long way coming.”

“Our roads led to Rome. This time, once again, our achievements allow us to dream of trophies, of heroes from the past.”

“The disappointment from Tirana will be our fuel to make new memories. We are on our way to Rome.”
