Feyenoord boss Arne Slot previews Roma rematch

Andy Mattioli

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot spoke ahead of tomorrow night’s Europa League match with Roma.

The Dutch technician expressed his desire for revenge after last year’s loss in the Conference League final in Tirana.

“If you ask me, do we want revenge? I’ll say: yes, we do. It’s part of professional sport, especially after a defeat, to think about winning the next match.”

“I don’t think that too much emotion on our part will make the match against Roma any more difficult than it already is. What makes it so difficult is their excellent organization and the quality of their players. They are very good in defense with five players at the back and the two midfielders in front of them and they don’t give you many chances.”

“The Conference League final? Yes, I’ve seen it, I rewatched it several times. It wasn’t that bad of a game for us. I never talked about that match with the boys.”

“It was a real shame that Roma’s only chance led to a goal. We played better than I initially thought. There were many ideas that I will use in tomorrow’s pre-match meeting.”

“But, I’ve seen lots of Roma games recently and I hope they play the same way they did in the final in Tirana. Our approach must be good, and if we can play the way we did in the Conference League final, then I feel good about this match.”
