Feyenoord manager Arne Slot admitted he’s still haunted by his team’s 1-0 loss to Roma in the Conference League final in Tirana last May.
The Giallorossi captured their first European title after Nicolo Zaniolo’s first half goal was enough to defeat the Dutch side. However, Slot still maintains the better team ultimately didn’t win.
“I try to push it (the final) out of my mind as much as possible,” Slot told ESPN NL.
“I haven’t re-watched it, I try to think about it as little as possible. Perhaps that’s not smart because there’s things we could learn from it, but I still need have to wait a bit before seeing it again.”
“It felt great to reach the final but there’s also nothing more painful than losing a final. It’s a final but then the best team doesn’t always win. We even saw this at the World Cup, bad luck plays a role, too.”
