Feyenoord goal-keeper expressed his disappointment at last night’s defeat the Stadio Olimpico.
The Dutchman sounded frustrated with the way Feyenoord let the victory slip through their fingers, failing to advance to the Europa League semi-finals.
“We were so incredibly close to the finish line,” he told ESPN.NL.
“It’s a very bitter feeling when you concede in the 89th minute. Like every match, we tried to put pressure on the opponent and play at a high intensity.”
“But then, each time they scored the stadium supported them even more and they took over in the end.”
“One could say that we ended the tournament with our heads held high, but we are very disappointed.”
