The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, recalled Francesco Totti’s retirement on this day, 28 May, in 2017.

Earlier today, Infantino wanted to celebrate Francesco Totti through a story on his Instagram profile on the day which marks the seventh anniversary of the historic Roma captain’s farewell to football.

“Even without the ball, dear Francesco Totti, you remain the eighth king of Rome,” wrote Infantino.

“Seven years ago you retired from football, but that ball continues to live on magical trajectories inside our hearts.”
