Fiorentina executive Joe Barone revealed Roma were one of the team’s interested in midfielder Lucas Beltran before his side eventually acquired the player earlier this summer.
Speaking before La Viola’s victory over Udinese, Barone was questioned about the sluggish beginning of the season that certain summer signings, including Beltran, were encountering.
“I’m constantly reading (negative) things in Firenze about M’Bala Nzola and Lucas Beltran,” he told DAZN.
“However, the former scored a ton of goals for Spezia last season while the latter was a guy we pursued for quite awhile. In fact, Roma were also interested and wanted to sign him.”
Adding, “The thing that’s needed is patience, not attacks. The same goes for the manager–he’s guided us to two finals, including one in Europe.”
