Fiorentina joins Villarreal in pursuit of Fazio

Veteran Roma defender Federico Fazio’s four year tenure with the club could come to an end in the coming weeks.

Il Messaggero reports that Fiorentina have joined Villarreal in making an offer to the 33 year-old central defender, who made only 16 leagues appearances this past season for the Giallorossi.

Fazio’s contract expires next summer with Roma and with the January arrival of Roger Ibañez, the Argentine found himself as the fourth choice central defender in Paulo Fonseca’s pecking order.

Fazio was recently spotted at the Valencia Airport in Spain as his former manager, Unai Emery, who was recently appointed the new boss of Villarreal, has made an offer to bring him back to Spain.
