Fiorentina have been dealt a blow as it was revealed midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli would miss the remainder of the season, including a May 8th showdown against Roma.

The 25 year-old was injured during this past weekend’s league affair against Venezia that forced him to exit the prematurely.

La Viola announced Castrovilli underwent scans earlier today, which revealed damage to the ACL, MCL, and external meniscus in his left knee, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign. He will undergo reconstructive surgery within the next few days.

It’s a huge loss for Fiorentina and their quest for a Europa League finish. They currently sit sixth in Serie A with 56 points, two points behind Roma.

Manager Vincenzo Italiano is expected to utilise Alfred Duncan, Lucas Torreira, and Youssef Maleh as his midfield trio for the rest of the campaign.
