Fiorentina’s Saponara eager for upcoming Roma clash

Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Saponara analysed Monday evening’s upcoming league fixture against Roma.

La Viola host Jose Mourinho’s side in Tuscany in a critical match with important Europa League place implications.

“It’s not going to be easy to stop Roma because they’ve become increasingly sensible and fluid in their playing style,” he told Fiorentina Weekly.

“They’ve changed formation and finally settled on their current one, which really helped them attain important results. They’ve also got a manager with incredible experience—going up against him is a motivation for all of us.”

He added, “We must take advantage of the extra rest we’ll have plus the fact we’ll be playing in front of our supporters in our stadium.”

“We’ve got a chance if we can put forth the best Fiorentina. If not, it’s going to be incredibly difficult because Roma are a really tough team.”
