Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano discussed his side’s ambitions heading into the qualifiers with Twente for this year’s edition of the Conference League. Italiano addressed the impact that Roma’s recent victory in the European competition has had on the Viola’s approach to it.
“I don’t think the fact that an Italian team won the Conference League will push us any further to take it seriously,” he told reporters in a pre-match presser earlier today.
“What will push us to do so is our sense of pride and our willingness to be better and take part in this competition, and go as far as possible.”
“Roma qualified for the Conference League by winning against Trabzonspor, who then went on to win the Turkish league title.”
“There are many dangers awaiting us along the road and we must pay our compliments to Roma. But, something else pushes us – it is a personal and individual matter in addition to allowing our supporters to travel around Europe with the hope of winning something.”
