Brazilian side Flamengo are reportedly closing in on Roma defender Matias Vina.

Vina, who joined Roma in 2022, is currently serving a loan spell at Sassuolo after failing to impress in the Italian capital and struggling for playing time under Roma head coach Jose Mourinho.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport, Vina is nearing a long-awaited return to South America where Flamengo are hoping to sign him on a permanent deal from Roma.

Di Marzio reports that Flamengo have submitted a new proposal worth €8-8.5 million (€7 million fixed fee plus €1-1.5 million in add-ons).

Roma are increasingly convinced of this offer and likely to accept these terms. The capital club recently met with Vina’s agent and are working for a successful conclusion to the deal.
