Roma are expected to appoint Florent Ghisolfi as their new sporting director before the end of the season.

The 39-year-old executive is currently in pole position to land the much talked about managerial vacancy in the Italian capital.

Ghisolfi, whose impressive CV contains experience at Lens and Nice, leading both teams toward unexpected Champions League participation, is said to be waiting for Nice’s approval for his move to Roma.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Ghisolfi already informed the French side of his plans and now awaits the final green light which will enable him to travel to Rome and pen his new contract.

The newspaper adds that Roma’s interest in Ghisolfi dates back to the first weeks of January when it became abundantly clear that Tiago Pinto would not stay on as the club’s General Manager.

Roma met with Ghisolfi several times over the last few months and both parties took a liking to each other and their vision of football.
