Florian Grillitsch named as candidate to replace Gini Wijnaldum

After being dealt a huge blow in yesterday’s training session resulting in Gini Wijnaldum’s fractured tibia, Roma are evaluating the options left on the market to replace the injured Dutchman.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a name Roma continue to consider is that of free agent Florian Grillitsch who recently left Hoffenheim and is still without a team.

The Austrian international had been in talks with various clubs including Fiorentina, but failed to lower his excessive financial demands and is now reportedly desperate for a move.

The Italian newspaper claims that Grillitsch would fit the profile of Wijnaldum’s short-term replacement. Roma also happen to be in contact with Grillitsch’s entourage and could decide to reach out once Wijnaldum’s timeline of recovery is established in the next few days.
