Following Roma links, Manchester United’s Eric Bailly officially joins Marseille

After being heavily linked with Roma throughout the previous two months, Manchester United central defender Eric Bailly has joined French side Marseille on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

The Ivorian international’s switch to the Ligue 1 side includes an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

The Giallorossi were just one of the many clubs linked with a potential transfer move for the 28 year-old after it became clear he wouldn’t have space under new Red Devils manager Eric ten Hag.

Bailly’s agent, Michaël N’Cho, offered the defender to Roma on multiple occasions following the appointment of Jose Mourinho in May 2021. Bailly is still very close with the Special One and was keen on reuniting with him at all costs.
