Following thumping by Roma, Montella sacked

After Udinese’s Igor Tudor, Roma have claimed another managerial victim following a victory.

Fiorentina announced late this morning that the club has sacked manager Vincenzo Montella following the team’s 4-1 loss at home against Roma. The former Roma attacker returned to La Viola in April but had an extremely poor points return: Montella lost 13 of 24 matches and earned only 19 out of a potential 72 points.

It remains to be seen who Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso will appoint, but names such as Luciano Spalletti and Beppe Iachini are said to be the early favorites.
