Roma manager Paulo Fonseca spoke to Roma TV following the Giallorossi’s 3-0 friendly victory over Serie C side Gubbio. These are his words:
Today’s match seemed difficult from a physical standpoint.
We knew it’d be a week in which we felt more from a physical point of view. It was quite hot out, but the answers we gave were good. We have to improve but we’re still in the early stages”.
Where are you seeing the team improve?
We’ve already got a good idea on the main principles. We need to improve some things like our defensive intensity and quickness in possession. The team is responding well, we knew we would have difficulties on a physical level. The response against a better opponent was good.
Diawara seems to have immediately understood the team’s idea of play.
He’s only trained with us for a few days and we explained what he’s got to do. His first performance was satisfactory, but we have a lot to improve on. Nzonzi, Cristante and Patore are a level ahead of him because they’ve been here from the start. But the first answers Diawara gave were good.
