Fonseca after Udinese win: “Today was difficult for us. Smalling? I need a central defender.”

Roma boss appeared on DAZN after his side’s 1-0 victory this evening against Udinese.

The Giallorossi earned their first win of the campaign thanks to a second half wonder strike from former Chelsea man Pedro.

“Tonight was difficult for us,” said the Portuguese tactician.

”We played in their area quite a bit in the first half but they were dangerous on the counter attack. We weren’t aggressive when we lost the ball but I think we created some good chances in the first half.”

“In the second half, we scored and then it was important to secure the win — the team was united and worked together to bring home an important result, but it was difficult.”

“Smalling? We can’t be left with just three central defenders, right now we only have these three (who played today), we need more players. Ibañez, though, played an excellent game as he did in the previous ones.”
