Roma boss Paulo Fonseca held his pre-match press conference today on the eve of his team’s league match against Milan.
The Giallorossi will face the Rossoneri, who sit atop the Serie A table, tomorrow evening at the San Siro.
“Milan are going thru a great stretch,” admitted Fonseca.
”They’re a great team with a good manager, who’s doing a fantastic job. Though, I think we’re experiencing a good run of form, too.”
“We’re motivated, the team is confident and I think tomorrow will be interesting from a tactical standpoint.”
The clash tomorrow will feature both Edin Dzeko and Zlatan Ibrahimović — both of whom are having strong seasons despite their respective ages.
“They are two very important players. I don’t want to make comparisons because I don’t work with Ibrahimović every day like I do with Edin,” said Fonseca.
“But I can talk about Dzeko and how important he is for our team, he’s a great player who is motivated.”
The Portuguese tactician then went on to discuss the rest of his team, including the status of Chris Smalling, who has missed the last two matches due to a knee strain.
“Smalling is fine, but he’s not ready for tomorrow’s match. I think it’s possible that he’ll return for the Europa League (on Thursday).”
He continued, “Mirante will play tomorrow in goal. It’s a situation I’m taking match by match.”
