Fonseca following Atalanta defeat: “They deserved to win”.

Roma manager Paulo Fonseca spoke to Roma TV following the Giallorossi’s 2-0 defeat at home to Atalanta. These are his words:

This defeat ends a positive period for the team.
They deserved the victory more. We didn’t have a good display, we had problems with their man-marking. We had chances, but never took control of the match. Atalanta were better.

Was that the game plan you had in mind?
I thought it was better to change formations against Atalanta. On their first goal, we gave the ball away as we were building the play. Defensively, we were good up until then.

Why were there so many problems with dribbling today?
Our opponent deserves credit for how they pressed. They man-marked us all throughout the pitch. We couldn’t overcome it.
