Fonseca lauds Roma’s character after Genoa win: “We have to take things one match at a time.”

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca was interviewed by DAZN after his side defeated Genoa 3-1 this afternoon in Liguria.

The victory allowed Roma to leapfrog Inter, Juve, and Atalanta in the Serie A table as they now sit on 14 points after seven match days.

“This was a victory full of character and a very strong attitude, we could’ve even scored more goals,” Fonseca said. “But I’ve always thought that this team has huge character.”

“Mayoral? He played well and worked hard. He had a chance to score a goal and got it wrong, but that’s normal. He did well. We have to take things, though, one match at a time. I said that we want to do better than last season and this is what we’re working towards.”

“Mkhitaryan? He and Pedro have a lot of experience. He knows how to play in this role that we had him in today. He’s very intelligent and scored three very important goals today for the team. The most important thing, though, is that we won,” he concluded.
