Roma tactician Paulo Fonseca was interviewed by Sky Sport after his side drew 2-2 this evening against Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus.
The Giallorossi failed to capitalise on a bevy of scoring chances and ultimately had to settle for a draw against the Bianconeri.
“Tonight was a wasted chance, I think we had a good match but I am not satisfied with the result. We had a good match that should’ve been won,” he stated.
“Dzeko’s missed chances? He did well for the team and from my perspective he has remained calm and motivated (after his transfer to Juve fell through)”.
“Why did I only use two substitutions? I didn’t feel the need tk make them. Pedro, Mkhitaryan and Dzeko all told me they were fine to keep playing. I didn’t think I needed to make a change since they were doing well”.
Did you only make 2 changes today? Because?
“We can make 5 substitutions but if I see that the team is fine I don’t make them. I asked Mkhitaryan, Pedro and Dzeko if they were fine, when they are well I don’t need to change”.
“I have total confidence in the club, the new president has arrived and we are constantly talking. We are working to find the best solution for the team. I have total confidence in the work we are doing together”.
“The defence? We used 3 youngstars in defence tonight but they have quality and we showed that we are a strong team defensively. Mirante made only one save, the 3 central defenders did very well”.
“Borja Mayoral? I’m not talking about players who aren’t here,” concluded the Giallorossi’s Portuguese boss.
