Fonseca speaks ahead of Inter-Roma: “Dzeko is fit to play”.

John Solano

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca held his pre-match conference today on the eve of his side’s showdown in Milano against Inter. Here’s what he had to say ahead of the clash:

How’s Dzeko? Can he play tomorrow?
Yes, he trained with us today. Today he trained with us and is ready to play but I won’t discuss the formation I’ll put out there.

After 14 match-days Inter are at the top of the table. What worries you most about them?
Conte is a great manager, he is very good. Inter is going thru a good period – they have well developed characteristics and a way of playing. Surely it will be difficult for us.

An update on Kluivert’s condition? Who’s more ready to play between Perotti and Mkhitaryan?
Kluivert has taken medical exams and there’s no issues – however, he still a bit bothered by the tweak and won’t play. As for Perotti and Micky – they’re both in good condition and ready to play tomorr.w

Can Santon play three matches in a week?
Santon is playing very well. He played two very good games. He can play three games in a row, but we also have Spinazzola and Florenzi available. Only one will play.

Inter play with a three-man defence. What are the difficulties to this and how can you counteract this?
They’re very strong at the back: both in defending and building the player with their three defenders, who are all strong and dynamic. We’ve played against several sides that play with three at the back so this isn’t anything new.

Is Florenzi also an alternative for Kluivert’s spot?
Yes.

Would you like to thank Conte for refusing Roma?
Normally I don’t talk about the past. For me, it’s an honor if Conte was linked to Roma but I’m the one who’s here.

What did you think of Ãœnder against Verona?
Ãœnder must improve. He did not have a very good match against Verona, but he was injured and must improve tactically especially the defensive phase.
