Fonseca speaks ahead of Torino

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca held his pre-match press conference before tomorrow’s league match against Torino. Here’s what he had to say.

Torino lost to Spal before the break and are experiencing an up and down season. What sort of team do you expect to face?
It is always difficult to play against Toro. We expect a strong and motivated, aggressive team. In their three matches before Spal they were unbeaten. I’m sure it will be a difficult game.

In the interview yesterday, Petrachi spoke about Kalinić and Bruno Peres. He said Kalinić is not on the market and explained that you will give Bruno Peres a chance. How do you plan to revitalise Kalinić and what did you think of Bruno Peres in these 2-3 days?
Kalinić is working well and improving week by week. I think he can play more in this final part of the season. I’ve always said it’s not easy in the January market to find the right players. It is important that Kalinić stays with the team and I believe we can use his help. Bruno Peres is our player, he finished his loan and Petrachi knows him well. We talked about him and he has started working with us these past two days. We’ll see if he can help the team, but now he’s not physically ready. He must learn and improve physically. We will see after that.

Is the impending ownership change being discussed in the dressing room? How are you handling it?
No, we don’t talk about it. I am the coach, I speak a lot with Guido Fienga. I know what is happening and I am calm about this issue.

Has Ünder been a disappointment? Is there a chance he leaves?
Right now, I don’t think I’m losing any of our players and Ünder is a part of the team. Only 11 guys can play and they must work hard to play well.

What’s the problem that Kluivert has?
A muscular problem.
