Fonseca speechless after Atalanta loss

Roma manager Paulo Fonseca was at a loss for words after his side was dismantled by a score of 4-1 against Atalanta this evening.

The loss is another black mark on the Portuguese manager’s record against Serie A’s big sides while tonight marked his third straight loss against La Dea, who scored four goals in the second half.

“Right now it’s difficult to explain. We were aggressive and played like warriors in the first half. The second half, though, we played like kids. We weren’t aggressive,” he lamented to Sky Sport and Roma TV.

”I thought we could continue with what we did in the first half. If we had kept that attitude we would have won. It’s a question of attitude, a match lasts 90 minutes, not 45.”

“Perhaps it’s a lack of maturity but for me, today it was an issue of change of attitude. It is difficult to understand what happened today.”
