Fonseca to remain until season’s end

RomaPress Staff

Paulo Fonseca will stay on as Roma manager until the end of the season as the club opted not to sack him today.

Corriere dello Sport reports that following today’s one hour meeting between Roma’s upper management and Fonseca’s agent, Marco Abreu, the club has decided to keep the Portuguese technician at the helm.

The club was seriously considering removing him from his role after a string of defeats, including yesterday’s 2-0 loss against Sampdoria.

The 48 year-old will oversee the team’s final five games this campaign, however, his contract will not be renewed by the capital club.

His deal expires on 30 June and the Giallorossi have already commenced their search for his replacement, including holding discussions for Maurizio Sarri.
