Former Inter executive Marco Branca has backed his former manager, José Mourinho, to do well with Roma.

‘The Special One’ returns to Serie A next season after the Giallorossi announced his appointment as the club’s new manager two weeks ago.

Branca, who worked alongside Mourinho during their time with the Nerazzurri, claims that the ex-Chelsea boss should have no problems settling in the Italian capital.

“I think he’s going to do very well in Rome, we’re talking about a great professional, he’s among the top five best managers of the past twenty years,” Branca said to TeleRadioStereo.

“I know the Roman environment perfectly, and I know this place will benefit from his arrival, as will Mourinho himself. If you approach everything calmly, without hyperbole, then I think this will be a great adventure.”

He added, “Aside from his recent spell at Tottenham, he’s shown that he has the ability to form a fantastic group. He knows how to get the most out of his players by exploiting his motivational capabilities.”

“He believes in what he says, he doesn’t pretend whatsoever and leads by example. You just have to back him and support him, he needs the club to be close to him.”

“Anything is possible with this guy when it’s like this. Roma need to raise the level of their mentality and professionalism: I believe they’ve brought the right guy to do this.”
