Earlier today, Salernitana unveiled their latest transfer market addition, former Roma attacker Diego Perotti.
The Argentine joined the club as a free agent after he terminated his contract with Fenerbahçe in September. He spent less than one year with the Turkish giants, who he joined in October 2020 on a permanent deal from Roma, after dealing with several injuries.
“I appreciate the trust shown in me, I’ll try to give my best,” Perotti told Salernitana’s official website.
“I went without a team for awhile so I’m very motivated. I want to do well and help my teammates in this quest to avoid relegation, which I think we can achieve.”
“This is a big opportunity the club has given me. And like always, I’ll do my best as a professional and try to help the team as much as I can.”
He added, “I also think given my age, I can help with some of the younger players here.”
The 33 year-old’s move to the Salerno-based side reunites with former Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini and defender Federico Fazio.
“It’s the third time Fazio and I are on the same team,” Perotti recalled. “This isn’t something you see quite often in football.”
“Of course, it’s always nice to reembrace friends that you’ve made during this long journey in your football career. Since we know each other, it’ll help both of us integrate into the team.”
