Francesco Totti calls Romelu Lukaku “a difference-maker”

Andy Mattioli

Roma legend Francesco Totti praised the club’s official signing of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.

The legendary club captain discussed Lukaku’s decision to join the Giallorossi in an interview with Radio Serie A.

“The beauty of us Romanisti is this, when there’s something big in the air we make it even bigger. The passion that Roma fans show is hard to find anywhere else.”

“Lukaku is a great signing, he is a difference-maker and so let’s hope he can get on with Dybala right away. But a player on his own can’t make a team, to achieve your goals you need to have a full squad ready to go. Him and Dybala are two top players, let’s hope they understand each other as soon as possible.”

“The number 10 shirt? I am not the owner of that shirt. The next one who wears it will have to show respect not to the number, but to the club, Roma, and its fans. He has to be someone who stays at Roma for twenty years, because giving it to a player for one or two years wouldn’t be significant, it wouldn’t even suit the player himself who would be filled with responsibility.”

“Paulo, out of respect, has never asked me and never will. He is a professional and an exemplary man, not a fool.”
