Roma legend Francesco Totti weighed in on Daniele De Rossi’s future as Roma’s long-term head coach.

The legendary Giallorossi captain discussed his close friend and former teammate’s coaching career so far in the Italian capital.

In an interview with Sport Mediaset, Totti remarked, “I have a special relationship with De Rossi, we grew up together.”

“Now he has an important responsibility, he is the coach of Roma. He knows the kind of challenges he has to face, what path he has to take. We are all close to him.”

“Roma are happy with Daniele in charge. We all stand on his shoulders. I wish Daniele to become the Ferguson of Roma.”

“If he deserves it, he is a Roma fan and he is a great coach. Now let’s see what the club will do with him. I think Ghisolfi will provide Daniele with a competitive team to return to the Champions League.”

“Scudetto? The goal for this season is to return to the Champions League, then when you have a different mentality and perspective you can think about other ambitions.”
