Roma legend Francesco Totti and former manager Luciano Spalletti seem to have made peace after years of tension.
The two former Giallorossi men had had a lengthy falling out which started all the way back in 2016, when Spalletti returned to the capital club, replacing Rudi Garcia mid-season.
Spalletti’s decisions marginalized Totti, forcing him to consider earlier retirement.
For the next few years, the two did not speak to each other, with Totti painting a negative picture of Spalletti in his autobiography and the TV series that was produced on its basis.
However, last night a breakthrough took place, with Spalletti and Totti mending relations.
On the first episode of the Viva Rai 2, Totti – the main guest – was invited to speak on the phone with Spalletti (who called in).
The two had a brief exchange:
Totti: “Hi, boss. How are you?”
Spalletti: “I’m good, and now that I hear your voice I’m even better.”
Totti: “So now you’re coming to Rome, right? We shall see each other.”
Spalletti: “Yes, it would be nice if he came with me to visit these mutual friends at Children’s Hospital of Bambin Gesù. It would not be good if we went separately. I think it would be better to donate that moment together to many children, with the emotions we shared with Roma.”
