Monza technical director Francois Modesto has reportedly become the leading candidate for the sporting director vacancy at Roma.
Over recent weeks, the Giallorossi have been evaluating a vast list of names of candidates who could succeed Tiago Pinto in the club’s sporting duties.
According to Corriere dello Sport, up until a few days ago Rennes executive Florian Maurice was supposedly Dan Friedkin’s first choice due to his international network.
However, the same newspaper now reports that Modesto has climbed to the top of the list based on CEO Lina Souloukou’s reccomendation.
The 45-year-old has accumulated precious experience within the Italian world of football following five seasons at Cagliari as a footballer and the recent work at Monza as a technical advisor to Adriano Galliani and coach Raffaele Palladino.
Roma are keen on Modesto because of his scouting methods and the integral role youth plays in his vision of team-building.
