Friedkin make contact with Rangnick

RomaPress – A new “due diligence” of sorts has begun within the walls Roma.

New Giallorossi owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin have started to identify candidates and initiate contact for those that they believe can be a part of their new structure at the club.

The idea of the American duo is to have a well-organised and aligned directorial structure within the club — a CEO, a general director, and a sporting director to work in tandem with Ryan Friedkin, who will act as the club’s vice president.

One of the candidates that Friedkin has already initiated contact with is Ralf Rangnick. The German ended his adventure with Red Bull earlier this summer after his move to Milan fell through as he is ready to start again.

The Friedkin’s have already spoke to the German and his agent, Marc Kosicke. No offer has been made to Rangnick as they have merely discussed his ideas and what he would envision for the club.

Like with Milan, Rangnick would require an abundance of authority and autonomy on the transfer market and the overall construction of the team — something that concerns Friedkin.

Because Friedkin wants an aligned hierarchy, it’s difficult to envision them handing the German the authority that he would require. However, they have been impressed with his ability to identify talent and build value within a team.

The discussions centered around a directorial role — there were no talks of the German becoming the manager.
