Frosinone boss Eusebio Di Francesco critical of Huijsen celebration after 3-0 loss to Roma

Frosinone boss Eusebio Di Francesco was lost for words following his side’s 3-0 home defeat against Roma this evening.

The Giallorossi scored twice in the second half to secure a comfortable win away from home. However, Di Francesco insisted the final result doesn’t tell the full story.

“How do I explain the result? You tell me, I find it hard to explain when you look at how well we played in the first half. There was only one team on the pitch,” Di Francesco told DAZN.

“It’s absurd we found ourselves losing 1-0 at halftime. We showed a lot of effort and quality on the pitch tonight, it’s a shame nothing materialised after everything we created.”

He continued, “Tonight’s result is correct—Roma deserved it. The team that concedes three goals has no room for chatter. Nonetheless, there’s still plenty of regret for having played that well in the first half but nothing to show for it.”

Di Francesco also commented on Dean Huijsen’s goal and subsequent “shush” celebration aimed towards Frosinone’s supporters, who whistled him throughout the game.

“I don’t want to be too critical because this player could be my son,” he stated.

“However, he made an ugly gesture towards a team that was interested in him and, furthermore, a club he wanted to join. In fact, he called to speak to me to understand my thoughts about him, so it’s quite disrespectful.”

“Given this, there’s a certain level of sensitivity and respect required—but he’s still a kid, he’ll learn from his mistakes.”
