Frosinone defender Kevin Bonifazi undergoes surgery, out for Roma clash

RomaPress Staff

Frosinone defender Kevin Bonifazi is out for Sunday’s league clash against Roma after deciding to undergo surgery on the knee injury that has kept him out for the previous three weeks.

The 27 year-old last appeared in late January during the Giallazzurri’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari, tweaking his knee in the final moments of the match. Initially the club were confident Bonifazi would be back in just a few weeks following a regiment of physical therapy—however, this didn’t come to fruition.

Due to a lack of improvement, Bonifazi opted to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair the internal meniscus in his right knee. Earlier today, Frosinone confirmed the operation was successfully performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mirco Lo Presti at La Casa di Cura Madre Fortunata Toniolo in Bologna.

He’s expected to recover and return to action within 6-8 weeks.
