RomaPress – Outgoing Roma transfer chief Tiago Pinto wants to acquire reinforcements this month as Jose Mourinho’s side continue their push for a top four finish.

The Portuguese executive is set to depart the club at the end of the month, but he’s eager to see-out the January transfer window before leaving. However, Roma need to offload 1 or 2 players before any transfer acquisitions can be finalised.

The name at the top of the list is fullback Leonardo Spinazzola, whose contract expires in June. The Giallorossi are keen to get the Italian off their books immediately since he’s one of their most expensive players. This season alone he’ll cost Roma a total €11.7 million due to his gross wage (€5.6 million) plus the annual amortisation of his transfer fee (€6.1 million).

Pinto is eager to sell Spinazzola as soon as possible, but more time is needed before the fullback’s exit is finalised. Multiple sources confirmed to RomaPress that the player’s agent, Davide Lippi, has told interested clubs—including Galatasaray—they’ll need to offer at least a three-year contract. In addition, Spinazzola is seeking an overall higher wage than his current one at Roma (an identical base wage but larger bonuses).

To date, these demands have dissuaded the Turkish giants and it’s doubtful any European club would be willing meet these requests.
