Gareth Southgate “disappointed” with Roma’s display

Roma’s humiliating debacle at the Dacia Arena last night did not go unnoticed as a special spectator was present in Udine. As earlier reports suggested, England manager Gareth Southgate attended Udinese-Roma to scout Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham.

Unfortunately, today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport suggests Southgate was left disappointed with Roma’s display in their emphatic defeat to Udinese.

The Italian newspaper argues that Southgate may soon reconsider relying on Tammy Abraham as Harry Kane’s back-up for the upcoming World Cup.

It remains to be seen whether the English technician would still be open to giving Chris Smalling a chance as the ex-Man United defender hasn’t been called up with the national team since 2017.
