England manager Gareth Southgate decided against including Roma attacker Tammy Abraham in the Three Lions’ call-up list for the World Cup in Qatar.
His decision was explained by the manager himself in a press conference earlier today.
“Tammy’s had a poor run of scoring form at the wrong time,” Southgate told reporters.
“For competitions like the World Cup, form could be more important in the end,” he concluded, while defending his decision to call up Newcastle’s Callum Wilson as the preferred back-up striker to Harry Kane.
