Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma are preparing for the away match against Napoli with several lineup questions, particularly regarding the attacking options to partner Donyell Malen.

The Dutch center forward will return after serving his suspension and will be the Giallorossi’s main attacking partner.

Behind him, however, the coach will need to identify the best players to ensure quality and unpredictability, especially considering the absence of Paulo Dybala.

Matias Soulé is ready to reclaim a starting spot, building on a strong start to the season marked by two goals and an assist in the first seven matchdays.

Rodrigo Mora continues to be a key offensive option. The youngster, born in 2007, has shown promising qualities, but has yet to find the consistency needed to become a key player in the lineup.

As reported by La Repubblica, Gasperini is evaluating various options for the attacking midfield, aiming to increase the team’s attacking threat. One of the possibilities concerns the advancement of Niccolò Pisilli behind Malen, a choice that will depend on Cristante’s condition and his possible presence from the first minute.

Cristante’s possible return to the starting eleven could significantly alter the Giallorossi’s midfield structure. If the midfielder offers the necessary fitness, Gasperini could deploy him alongside De Roon in midfield, freeing up Pisilli for a more advanced role alongside Soulé.

Otherwise, Mora’s chances of starting the game increase. In defense, however, the indications point to a resurgence of the trio of Mancini, Ndicka, and Hermoso, while Wesley is expected to occupy the left flank.

On the right, Lulli appears favored over Molina, confirming the trust he has earned in recent months. Furthermore, the 2007-born player has reportedly already reached an agreement with the club for a contract renewal until 2031, with the signing expected on Monday. The trip to the Maradona stadium will also be an important opportunity to break a string of unfavorable precedents for Roma.

The Giallorossi’s last victory away to Napoli dates back to March 3, 2018, when Eusebio Di Francesco’s team won 4-2. Their last away win against a team coached by Massimiliano Allegri was even further back in time, in 2010. Gasperini will try to reverse this trend, leveraging a standings position that currently sees Roma seven points ahead of the Azzurri. This is a significant advantage, but one that will need to be confirmed on the pitch.
