Multiple outlets, including Il Corriere dello Sport and La Repubblica have revealed that Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini is now the favorite to land at Trigoria and become the new manager of the Giallorossi. Today’s front page of the aforementioned newspaper has made it clear: Gasperini is nearing the capital. Roma CEO Guido Fienga will be the one in the Giallorossi hierarchy who will initiate all the contacts necessary, however, he will wait until the end of the season. Gasperini, though, wants assurances on the transfer market to ensure players that suit his football would be brought in. Players like De Rossi and Pastore would find it hard to find space in his side: Gasp would play with the three-man defence, a centre forward with two playmakers behind him, and quick players on the flanks.
