After Roma’s great 2-0 victory against Verona and the Giallorossi’s return to the Champions League, Gasperini made some comments to DAZN microphones during the post-match.

“It was a beautiful evening, but a difficult one. We struggled, paradoxically, when we held the advantage, perhaps because we were in a rush to finish. There was always the risk that something could lead to a goal.”

“I immediately found a group that showed great dedication. You could see everyone’s desire to have a top-level season. We won over the critics, but above all, we gained credibility with the fans. It was a difficult year, not so much for the relationships with the players.”

“The hardest moment was the defeat against Inter in Milan. Did we raise the bar? I saw how the lads worked. We told ourselves we’d play a run of 6, 7, or 8 games, like the great teams do.”

“We’ve also improved in terms of our game, and Malen has helped us make an incredible leap in attack, but at the same time we’ve lost an incredible number of players like Dybala, Soulé… We were few in attack, but those who played always gave their all. I was expecting to go on a winning streak, we always said that among ourselves. We weren’t able to do it, but in the end we did it at the right time.”
