Genoa attacker Junior Messias applauded his side for their effort after they won 4-1 over Roma this evening in Liguria.

The former Milan man scored the host’s fourth and final goal to cap-off an impressive performance against Jose Mourinho’s side, who suffered their third defeat of the season.

“It was beautiful to celebrate with the supporters tonight because we needed the points,” he told DAZN.

“The guys did really well and we played a great match. The supporters deserve all this. The important thing was to win.”

Adding, “Now we have to continue working in order to reach salvation and avoid relegation as soon as possible. Once that happens we’ll worry about everything else.”

“Ever since I arrived here the group has been fantastic, everyone is willing to put themselves at the disposal of the manager. We can do great things together.”
